8-Sensor BIA · DEXA-validated

You're not overweight.
You're undermeasured

BMI misses where fat lives and how your body is built. It can’t separate a 210-lb athlete from a 210-lb inactive body. Hume Pod reveals the full picture - 45+ metrics, tracked in real time.

BMI doesn't measure body composition directly. It has no way to separate fat from muscle, bone from water. A bodybuilder at 12% body fat can score "obese." A thin person with dangerous visceral fat levels can score "normal." It wasn't designed for pregnant women, children, the elderly, or anyone with above-average muscle mass. It's a rough population-level screening tool, not something you should base real health decisions on.

The Hume Pod goes past the number on the scale: tracking body fat percentage, lean muscle mass in each limb, visceral fat wrapped around your organs, metabolic age, phase angle, and segmental water balance. Forty-five metrics. From your bathroom floor. Every morning.

At-Home Body Scanning

The Hume Pod uses the same 8-sensor bioelectrical impedance technology found in hospital and clinical settings. It's been validated against DEXA, the gold standard in body composition and delivers 98% agreement on body fat percentage. A DEXA scan costs $150–$300 per session and requires a clinic visit. The Hume Pod gives you that same level of insight every single morning.

Dashboard & Nudges

Hume flags what's about to happen. Your visceral fat is trending up over three scans even though your total weight is flat? It catches that. Your left leg is carrying 400g less lean mass than your right? It catches that.

The difference between "I lost weight" and "I lost fat."

Every pound of muscle you lose lowers your resting metabolic rate by about 6 calories per day. Lose ten pounds of muscle over six months, and your body now burns 60 fewer calories daily at rest. That's how people hit plateaus. That's how people regain weight after stopping a GLP-1. The Hume Pod scans your body every time you step on it and breaks down exactly what you're gaining and losing, so you can increase protein, adjust your resistance training, or flag the data for your doctor before the damage compounds

What should I do with my BMI result?

Treat it like a smoke detector. It tells you something might be going on, but not what's burning or where. If your BMI reads 27, the real question isn't "am I overweight?" It's: overweight with what? A person with a BMI of 27 could be carrying 18% body fat with strong lean mass and a healthy visceral fat level, metabolically protective. Or they could be at 33% body fat with visceral adipose tissue secreting inflammatory cytokines that are quietly driving insulin resistance. Same BMI. Radically different health pictures. The action step is to find out which one you are, and that requires body composition data, not a more precise scale.

I'm on Ozempic/Mounjaro. How does this help me?

GLP-1 medications are effective at reducing body weight, but published studies show a significant portion of that loss comes from lean tissue, not fat. The Hume Body Pod lets you monitor your fat-to-muscle ratio week by week so you can adjust protein intake and resistance training before muscle loss compounds. It also shows you real progress during scale plateaus when body recomposition is happening silently.

How is the Hume Pod different from my bathroom scale's "body fat" reading?

Most bathroom scales use 2 foot electrodes and a single frequency. Current only travels through your lower body: your arms, chest, and trunk are essentially guessed at by algorithm. The Hume Pod uses 8 electrodes (hands and feet) at multiple frequencies, measuring all five body segments directly. It's the difference between estimating and measuring.

Your weight is a number.

Your body is the full story.

Your data drives the plan

Your data feeds directly into Hume's AI coach. It doesn't give you generic "eat more protein" advice. It calculates your specific protein target from your lean mass. Sets recovery windows based on your output. Adjusts guidance as your body changes, because a recommendation that's right at 28% body fat is wrong at 22%.

🧬 98% agreement with DEXA. At home.

Single-frequency devices can't distinguish. Hume runs multiple frequencies: low frequencies circle the cell, high frequencies penetrate it. Accurate lean mass readings even when you're dehydrated, post-workout, or retaining water.

📈 Trend Tracking

Single measurements are snapshots. The Hume Pod builds a longitudinal dataset of your body, segmental changes over weeks and months. You'll see muscle imbalances between your left and right sides. You'll catch visceral fat creeping up before it shows on a scale.
